I went with the klx for the suspension, and I'm glad I did. I don't ride super difficult trails and don't jump, but I still bottom it out occasionally. The consensus on the Hondas is that the suspension is much worse, so even with the kind of riding I'm doing, I'd be bottoming out a lot. I also like that the klx is a touch taller and I'm 6'1".

390A is good for pavement/back roads/good FS roads. But it doesn't have the long travel suspension or the ground clearance of the Honda 300/Kaw 300/WR250R. You need to put a grand in it... skid plate, footpegs, chain, tires, handlebars, etc etc. Honda 300 adventure model is kinda heavy though.
It felt really top heavy compared to the crf300l I have now. The drz not having a 6th gear is pretty lame too. I'd go with the klx300 over the WR. Id also go with the 300l over the klx ha. Theres a wee bit more torque on the klx over the WR which is always good. The klx seat height is 1.5" or so lower than the WR which you might like.
